This summer, Uber is changing the definition of luxury travel with Uber Copter, a helicopter taxi service aimed at helping visitors bypass Italy's infamous traffic snags on the Amalfi Coast. As it stands, over five million tourists are projected to visit this UNESCO World Heritage site. With Uber Copter in place, traveling between Sorrento and Capri will now effortlessly invite high-end travel access to one of Europe’s most glamorous hotspots.
Helicopter Transfers: The Ultimate Shortcut to Capri
From July 26 to August 23, 2025, Uber Copter will operate every Saturday and Sunday, offering private round-trip helicopter transfers from Sorrento to Capri. Each booking comes with a pre-flight check-in requirement of two days, which can be done through the Uber app. Each dual-engine and dual-pilot helicopter is equipped to hold six passengers, which makes it great for group outings for an exclusive day trip. The transfer cost includes door-to-door car services from anywhere along the coast at a rate of €250 per pax, ensuring utmost convenience throughout the entire process.
Luxury Travel, Modern Convenience, and Views You’ll Never Forget
While driving along the Amalfi Coast’s narrow, winding roads inches away from sheer cliffs can be a breathtaking experience, it also comes with the challenges of summer traffic. For those wishing to avoid sitting for hours in traffic, there’s always Uber Copter—a 20-minute flight that offers stunning aerial views of the coastline’s dramatic cliffs and sparkling blue waters. Anabel Diaz, Uber’s Vice President for EMEA Mobility, stated that the company focuses on making travel for customers “more magical than ever before” with land, sea, or air options. For travelers who prioritize exploring via water, Uber is launching Uber Boat as well, which offers private four-hour charters along the coastline packed full of snacks and beverages along with a personal skipper.
Booking Details
As for now, Uber Copter and Uber Boat services are available through the app from anywhere in Italy and will start accepting bookings from June 25th, 2025. Aimed at high-net-worth individuals and travelers seeking luxury holiday experiences with friends while venturing around the Amalfi Coast without dealing with stubborn traffic. Because of high demand coupled with limited offer windows, having trips booked well in advance is highly suggested alongside weather terms being adhered to for all flights.
Uber's Vision for the Future of Travel
Uber's helicopter and boat charter preorders show their response to rising requests for upscale transport in Italy's busiest tourist regions. With more than 400 thousand international users last summer in Italy, including 60 thousand on the Amalfi Coast alone, Uber continues positioning itself as the platform for effortless premium travel. An increase in international flights to Salerno Airport unlocks new opportunities for multi-modal, souped-up travel integration around the country and spiral coast, improving access and luxury services to the famous coastline.
